Manuel Pais
Manuel Pais is a consultant in process improvement and an agile practices enthusiast (inevitably after several years under the waterfall). He started his professional career as a Java developer for the web, then moved on to build & release roles and finally to system testing. He’s not sure if the best thing about each new challenge was the new skills acquisition or the ability to apply previous skills to a new technical domain. After a decade in the industry Manuel decided to start over and go back to school, taking a dual masters degree on software engineering by the University of Coimbra and Carnegie Mellon University. Such challenge led him to collaborate with the Software Engineering Institute on research of architectural value in agile development and technical debt management. Part of this work has been presented at the SATURN 2011 software architecture conference.
